Jury Member: Bee

Only two weeks from today the entries for the Smut Marathon 2019 will close, and a week later the participants will receive their first assignment. It’s high time we start introducing the 2019 jury to you, and the first to do so is the lovely Bee! You can also follow her on Twitter.

Who am I?

BeeI’m a kinky, submissive, bisexual cis female who together with my partner Bee Keeper run our blog atosubbee.com.

That is my little space in the internet where I blog about sex, kink and relationships. It’s where I allow my exhibitionist streak to fly free. I started my blog for that very reason, to show the world who I am while the physical world around me doesn’t allow me to do so. It’s a place where I explore myself through the medium of photography, pushing my boundaries and seeing myself through the lens in a more positive light. Then it became far more than that, it was a place to tell my story, share my experiences with others.

I want to show the world that being a submissive woman doesn’t make me meek and mild. I have my own opinions and they don’t always match the Bee Keeper’s, I’ve been known to be called bloody minded at times but that doesn’t mean I’m not open to listening and value other people’s opinions too. I don’t fall at the feet of anyone who claims to be a dominant, you have a lot more to do if you want to be my dominant!

I’m a huge advocate of equal rights, yes you can be a submissive and an equal. Not only will I speak up wherever I can, I am a campaigner for LGBT+ issues especially in my workplace. You can also follow part of that journey in an essay I wrote for ‘Accepting a Label’ published in Identity: An Eroticon Anthology.

So what makes me qualified to judge?

I missed out on seeing the original incarnation of Smut Marathon but when Rebel brought it back I thought it would be an incredible challenge to be part of.

I class myself as a blogger rather than a writer, my self confidence in that area isn’t very high. Whilst I’ve dabbled in a bit of fiction writing, it’s not my strong point to say the least. I really did want to be part of the Smut Marathon last year to challenge myself but my mental health wasn’t in a good place so I decided not to put that much pressure on myself.

Instead I waited for each round, snuggled up on the sofa and enjoyed all the submissions. Not only that, I chatted on line and in person so some of the participants and their enthusiasm for the contest was infectious.

So when Rebel asked if I would like to be a judge this year, I jumped at the chance to be part of it without it having a negative impact on my health. Whilst I may not have the technical understanding of writing, I do know what I enjoy. So bring on the filth and the erotic, I can’t wait to feast my eyes on this years writings.
