Jury Member: Chris McClennan

Three days people, only three more days to sign up for the Smut Marathon 2019! Go on, quickly sign up and then come back to meet the fourth jury member (Bee was the first, Jaime Mortimer second and Charlie Powell the third) for this year’s marathon: Chris McClennan, who for many long years has been known to me as Stranded in Toronto, and who I still call ‘Stranded’ when I talk about him! You can also follow him on Twitter.

CP is a novelist, sex blogger, and ethical non-monogamy coach. Originally from Calgary, he has been living in the mystical land of Toronto since 1986.

He is the author of five novels including three books (so far) in The Savannah Trilogy: Just Prey, Darwin’s Sword, and The Orphan War; a story that mixes science fiction with erotica. The trilogy will be expanding to four books in the very near future. He is also known to incorporate other genres with erotica, such as humor in Tales of Director Jake; a series of shorts about a porn director where things simply go wrong on his sets.

With literary influencers such as Douglas Adams (CP has a 42 literally tattooed on his shoulder), Stephen King, Nancy Kress, and Neil Gaiman; it is little wonder why the stereotypical romance genre gets avoided. Added to this, CP often writes using musical influences of the likes of Rush, Heart, Howard Jones, or “Weird Al” Yankovic… and on that latter one, there is some debate if CP’s next tattoo will be Boba Fett playing the clarinet in honor of Al.

CP’s main blogging site began nine years ago as Stranded in Toronto before it evolved into his author site at www.cpmcclennan.com. He blogs on a mix of topics including humor, politics, sex positivity, parenting, and atheism. This year, being the fifth anniversary of CP and @Lauraspond’s open marriage leads to a heavy dose of polyamory and ethical non-monogamy as well. He and Laura have become coaches for some in ethical non-monogamy as they share their experiences on the podcast, Polytix. He also writes reviews on sex clubs from Toronto to NYC… so far. There will be more, no doubt.

At home, he and Laura tend to a flock of younglings… two in college and two not yet there. They also farm a science fiction artwork collection that scares most people away from their house parties for fear of some X-File-esque event happening.
