Feedback Rules

One thing we feel strongly about is that everyone is welcome to participate in the Smut Marathon, and share their erotic words, as long as their words have nothing in it that is forbidden by law, such as has been mentioned under point 5.3 of the rules.

Differences

Because the marathon is open to anyone, it means there are writers with different backgrounds, coming from different cultures, and people of different genders. Those backgrounds, cultures or genders might be reflected in some of the stories. Always keep in mind that we are not the same, and be respectful of what a person has shared in their story. If you are not aware of the different genders and the way this is reflected in writing, we strongly urge and recommend to read the following articles:

Our understanding of gender and sexuality is constantly and rapidly evolving. We welcome these developments as they allow our transgender friends, colleagues and loved ones to give the fullest expression to their identity and be rightfully recognized within society. However, we also recognize that with this constant and rapid evolution of both understanding and language, there is the potential for well-intentioned individuals to use an older and less preferred term. Where this happens, we ask that a polite correction is given, so that we can all continue to develop our knowledge, understanding and vocabulary, and can be better allies to those who are rightfully striving to be properly recognized within society.

Feedback pointers

In every voting round for the first 2.5 years of the Smut Marathon, these two posts have been linked when asking readers to give feedback:

These tips are not only for the givers of feedback, but also for the authors of the stories. Please read these post to acquaint yourself with these two important things:

  • how to give feedback;
  • how to receive feedback.

Problems

Due to the vast amount of feedback given on the stories in the different rounds of the Smut Marathon, it is not possible to read everything before approving the comments.

When you read feedback on stories, and the feedback is abusive in any way, please fill out the form below. Make sure you explain the full problem with the feedback, and also add the number of the story, and the name of the feedback-giver.

We will investigate the feedback, and consult with trusted advisors, to determine our follow-up action.
