Jury

Experience has learned that it is necessary to have a jury to judge the stories alongside the public. The public tends to choose the stories that made them horny, and don’t always check whether the assignment has been fulfilled or whether the author has spent some time to edit their text.

A jury member will never know beforehand who has written which story. All stories are anonymized before they are sent to the jury, and hard criteria such as the number of words are checked. It is the task of the jury to check the following:

  • Has the writer understood the assignment and fulfilled it?
  • Is the story erotic in some or other way?
  • Does the text seem to have been written hastily or has the writer sent in a well-edited text?
  • Is there any feedback you can give the writer for future stories?

Just like the writers and the readers, the jury members make a commitment for a full year. Unfortunately, since the Smut Marathon is solely a work of love, there is no remuneration for jury members. This might be something that change in coming years.
