Smut Marathon 2019: The Writers

Less than two months ago, on 2 December 2018, we announced the winner of the Smut Marathon 2018, and here we are, read to introduce the participants of the Smut Marathon 2019! We started the 2018 edition with 87 writers, and I am proud to announce that this year we have 116 writers who have signed up for the challenge. People who know me a bit, know I love statistics, and of course I have done so again: 26 of the writers of the first edition of the Smut Marathon have returned for the 2019 edition; 90 writers are new to the Smut Marathon; up to now I have a total of 177 writers on my list, the names of

Smut Marathon 2019: Enter now!

Only two weeks ago the Smut Marathon 2018 ended, and here we are, kicking off the next edition of the marathon! You can now enter for the Smut Marathon 2019! Before you enter, let me point out some things to you. The most important rule! Probably the MOST important thing of all is that you are not allowed to share anything of your entry until after the results of a voting round has been published. This rule is to keep the competition fair to all participants, and I urge you to abide by it, as breaking this rule can result in disqualification. Assignments A tip I always give in all my assignment mails, is to start writing as soon as

Smut Marathon 2018: Voting Round #5

We had thirty writers at the start of this writing round, but during this round, five writers have decided to withdraw from the Smut Marathon. Each writer has his/her own reason to either continue or stop with the marathon. Sometimes the marathon is not what they had expected it to be, which is something that saddens me at times, but I know that no matter how I do this and what the rules are, I cannot please everyone, even though that is actually my nature. Other times life just takes over. Family members get ill and need attention, and those attention is always more important than continuing with the marathon. Other times, the prompt just doesn’t work for someone or

Smut Marathon 2018: Voting Round #2

The two weeks that the authors had to work on the second assignment has flown by. Only two weeks ago we announced the results of the first voting round, and here we are, ready for the second! And ready you should be, because the authors have written some lovely stories – hot ones! The assignment The first assignment wasn’t easy, but (in my own opinion) the second was a bit easier. Only a bit though… Where we had 75 writers in the first round, only 62 remains. Congratulations to all the authors who have sent in their assignments! You rock! This was the second assignment: Write a flash fiction story using one of the entries from the first round. Specific

Smut Marathon 2018: The Writers

I have been planning this for months… the revival of the Smut Marathon, and of course, the first edition of the new Smut Marathon. From 15 December 2017, the day the entries opened, my emotions ran from excitement to gratitude and back to excitement again. From the moment the entries opened until they closed on 20 January 2018, there were only 3 days on which I have not received an entry. By the time the entries closed, there were 89 participants. Eighty-nine! (Note: On receiving the first assignment two people have withdrawn from the race, therefore there are only 87 names listed below.) We have introduced the jury in the past weeks, but now it’s time to introduce the participants.

Smut Marathon 2018: Enter now!

I have been looking forward to this moment for months, ever since I have announced that I will be running the Smut Marathon 2018 (and hopefully 2019, 2020, etc too). The time has come! You can finally enter for the Smut Marathon 2018! But before you do that, first read through the next piece and then I will tell you how to enter. What can you expect? The first writing round of the Smut Marathon starts on 28 January 2018 and lasts for two weeks. The second writing round also last for two weeks, the third and fourth for three weeks and the rest of the ten rounds all last for four weeks. Between each writing round there is a

Writing is a marathon, not a sprint.

The Marathon

Originally, the Smut Marathon was run by Alison Tyler, but for some years now there have been no editions of this ‘competition’. Four years ago Alison gave permission for a Dutch version of the Smut Marathon being started and just recently she has also given permission to re-start the Smut Marathon. So here we are… What is the Smut Marathon? The Smut Marathon is a writing challenge that lasts for months, hence the reason we call it a marathon. When you start it, be ready to be engaged for close to a year. If you make it through to the final round, you will have had to send in ten assignments spread over 10-11 months. Why should you participate? Because
